I learned that I NEED headphones and an earplug when performing with the group with the usage of my electric violin.  Playing by ear just does not work when you can't hear your instrument.  Sensitive ears can't tolerate the loudness of speakers and amps for longer than a few minutes.  Can't play at all with out a left ear headphone.  I'll be more prepared next time.  I apologize for my inabilities to play on Saturday.  I pretty much gave up and rested for the rest of the time.  You all sounded awesome though.  I'm not really needed for most of it anyway.  lol.

Haha.  It's cool.  That's actually why I really hoped the pickup idea would work for everyone.

I've still got your Burger King toy.

You'll note that I never go anywhere without at least 2 methods/sets of hearing protection.

It's something I've been thinking about since January 06 when I saw Sonata Arctica Live...My ears were so messed up afterwards. They felt like they had cotton in them for a few days if not longer.

Yeah, I keep a pair of re-usable earplugs in my purse. Came in handy during the ball, since I tend to sit in front of amps ^^;

I wonder: Is this a universal "learned" thread or just one about how Andrew learned these songs? I guess it probably doesn't matter all that much, but I'm bored at work here. I do have another song I learned though (Insert suspense).

Well, the electric violin is fine actually, I just need to wear an headphone, and it's A-OK.  I didn't like the pickup on my violin because it was a b*tch to put on, it was heavy, it would vibrate on my instrument, and it was a b*tch to take off.  I wasn't allowed to have it on my violin when I had violin lessons and etc. because it would vibrate on the wood.

Hmm...it would be interesting if we all had individual "learned" threads. But for now, let's just say I'm replaying a classic and can't wait to flesh out the repertoire ^__^
