Question About Violins
« on: April 24, 2009, 09:06:23 PM »

Okay, so I haven't played the violin in...about 9 years now. Didn't really think it was my thing at first when I did it, but now that I've really gotten back into playing music in general I'm kinda wanting to start playing it again. Only..I don't remember what the main difference in the sizes is about? Want to get one again, just don't know if there's any certain size I need to get or what.

I'm pretty sure that a 4/4 size (full size) violin is suitable for most adults. Anything else is mainly for small children who aren't big enough to use a full size violin.

Sorry I'm a bit late at replying here, but Nightshade is right.  A full sized violin (4/4) is probably what you are looking for.   I remember renting a 3/4 back in 4th grade, but by 7th grade I had moved up to a full sized violin.

Hope this helps, and good luck with the violin!  =)

Lol its ok on delayed response, I haven't purchased one yet.

Trying to find a good place to buy one around here...some of the violins they sell here are so cheap and by cheap i mean cheap quality not cheap money. I'm not stingy about money when it comes to a good instrument, but I'm not about to fork out an extremely unreasonable price for a really bad one.

Thanks for doubly confirming the size though definitely know what size to look for now.
